The Rangers Charity Foundation Walking Football Team travelled to Leverkusen this week to take part in the European Football Development Network’s League competition featuring teams from the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal, Hungary, Belgium and Norway.

Walking Football is a fast growing version of the sport which is non-contact and allows participants to play the game they love without the same risk of injury or level of exertion, whilst still boosting fitness.

The Foundation team were in an impressive group with Athletic Club Bilbao, Borussia Dortmund, Club Brugge, Bayer Leverkusen, Greenock Morton, Newcastle United Foundation, Salford City FC finishing with 3 wins, 3 draws and a defeat.

This coincides with European Week of Sports running from today until the 30th of September where Clubs and Foundations around Europe are promoting the importance of a more active and healthier lifestyle.

Our Walking Football programme is FREE for anyone aged 50 and over is a great way to get more active and enjoy the social aspects that being part of a club can deliver. It is run at the Ibrox Community Complex on Thursdays at 11am – 1pm with the first hour being for playing football and the second for social time and refreshments.
